Great Little A/C! July 4, 2010 K. Arredondo (Colorado) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
I have two LG 9,000's for the bigger rooms which I LOVE but needed one a bit smaller for my babies room (the central AC is horrible at cooling upstairs!), so we got this one the other day and it is perfect. You don't need to drain it so I don't know what the previous review was talking about. It is self - evaporating and uses it's own water cond. to cool itself. The window mount it much better then my LG's too. It's a very stylish and a small box AC that works wonderful and keeps me less stressed at night worrying about the comfort of my 18 month old at night. I have a thermostat reading in my room that tells me the temp in his room and this AC keep it exactly at what I wanted it to. Love it so far and recommend for sure!
It cools my room May 2, 2010 B. Mohandas (NJ,US) 12 out of 16 found this review helpful
I have a medium sized bedroom & my apartment folks dont allow me to put up a window ac. this one is comparable to a window ac & it cools well.
Really good gizmo! July 22, 2010 Larry A. Miller 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Firsr of all, most of the sites you visit to research this AC have the dimensions all screwed up.
It is: 18" wide 13.5 " deep and 24" high. It is also a bit heavy.
However, that said, it works really well. I have a room app. 400 sq feet, which serves as a home office by day and a bedroom by night (Murphy bed.) It't not noisy in an unpleasant manner- it creates a white noise that may actually be an aid to sleeping, very similar in sound quality and volume to the Sound Oasis machine I usually turn on at night.
Setting it up was little tricky, given that I have sliding windows, no floor space in front of the window, and had to position it on the corner of the desktop. The actual setup time was less than an hour. The exhaust hose is a bit awkward to handle, but I wrestled it into position OK. It has coasters so that one can roll it from one room to another, but I have no intention of doing this, so I can't say if it is a useful feature. Given the stiffness of the hose and the type of the connections, I wouldn't rely on that feature very much. It might come in handy when rolling it away for the winter.
The only question mark remaining is the water situation. My understanding is that when using the cooling function, it extracts moisture from the air and recycles it internally. If one uses it to dehumidify only, then the water accumulates and needs to be drained. So I will be watching to see if there is a problem with accumulation and what a solution might be, such as a drainage hose. Summer here in New England has been hot and humid ( I know- it's worse wherever you are!), but I'm confident this will do the job.
The price may vary a lot. Do a search for the best price before you commit.
Stay cool!
Good portable Air conditioner June 22, 2010 JMW (Houston, TX) 23 out of 24 found this review helpful
I was looking for a good, small, and cheap portable unit to install upstairs in my gameroom, HOA does not allow for window units. This unit preforms fairly well for its size. It does not have a water collection bin through you must drain it through a hose, but I have a central unit that removes alot of the humidity.
The installation was fairly easy except for a few small problems, it comes with 4 tiny screws that are supposed to attach the exhaust hose to the window spacer, but they where not long enough, I had to use 4 tiny bolts and washers instead.
When installing it remember to keep the exhaust hose as straight as possible any bends reduce efficiency. Also I bought some insulating wrap form home depot and covered the exhaust hose. I used a temp gun and saw that the exhaust hose had a temp form 95-110 degrees. The window insert they give you is a joke also you should install some insulation around it also.
Important to Read Before Using July 31, 2010 L. Philbin 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I set this A/C up in the 6 easy steps. They forgot one VERY IMPORTANT THING. There is a plug (which is not listed as a part on the parts list, or even mentioned in the instructions) which needs to be inserted in to the back of the unit. Since it wasn't mentioned anywhere (and it was not in with the parts, but rather sitting unwrapped a the bottom of the box) we didn't notice it, or put it in. As a result the unit poured water out all over the carpet after only 5 hours use, that carpet was absolutely soaked! After inspecting it, I looked in the box and there, underneath all of the bottom packaging, was the plug. Never mentioned anywhere to make sure it is inserted. Not mentioned at all. Other than that, nice little unit. Could be a little colder, but it is worth not having the window clogged up with a window unit. Nice product!
